Darkstar Transport was an Anchorage,
Alaska based off-highway [aka 'bush'] freight &
oversized heavy equipment hauling delivery organization operating
twenty four [24] hours a day 365 days a year between Anchorage,
Fairbanks, and portions of the Yukon Territory of Canada including
the capital of Whitehorse between 1974 and 1987.

Transport equipment included 23 vehicles ranging from a Nissan
Patrol all terrain 4 wheel drive messenger-payroll-parcel delivery
vehicle

to the three 18
and 20 wheeler multi-axle diesel truck rigs for over the highway,
off highway, and ice road use all year long under all conditions.
All Darkstar
fleet vehicles ran throughout the year on a 24 hour a day basis 365 days a year
delivering critically needed freight, equipment, hazardous
materials, explosives, heavy equipment, medical supplies, repair
parts, and supplies to remote
areas, worksites, government installations, mining operations, oil
field operations, remote rural villages, and many other off highway
remote site 'Bush' locations.
During winter snow-ice operations each Darkstar Transport vehicle
was outfitted-equipped with steel studded snow tires on every wheel rim and
sets of chains including all of the 20 wheeler 'big rigs' along with one
Single Side Band Communications Radio's set to the Alaskan-Canadian
truckers channel with two long range multi-directional antennas.
Additionally with no commerical radio broadcast stations
available, each Darkstar Transport vehicle was equipped with its
own cassette player for the individual Darkstar drivers personal
choices in music, old radio mystery or comedy shows, educational
learning tapes, and other subjects.
Every Darkstar driver was personally vetted by Darkstar
Management, signed a one year [12 month] employment contract stipulating
24/7 and 365 days a year availablity, no alcohol or drugs could be consumed at any
time by the Darkstar driver during that year whether on or off duty,
alcohol breathalizer tests could be conducted to them at any time.
A
positive test or any sign of alcohol, drugs, or having a vehicle
accident resulted in immeadiate termination of the drivers employment.
During the inital screening process, to be hired as a Darkstar
Transport Driver each potential trainee could not have had even a single ticket or an
accident on their driving records dating back to their inital drivers
license or drivers learners permit ever issued.
Every Darkstar
Transport Driver was fully vetted through an initial Federal Bureau
of Investigations [FBI] background check, a State of Arizona State
Troopers background check, were each specially and highly
individually trained, then tested as solo drivers encountering a
wide variation of circumstances unique to Alaska and Yukon Territory
condtions-encounters-emergency situations-driver & road
safety-mechanical problems-raodside emergency proceedures-glacier
steam and river fording resolutions.
After over
millions of miles of on and off highway including glacier
river-stream fording and ice road travel
not a single 1974 -1987 Darkstar Transport Driver ever had an
accident, got a ticket including a parking ticket, or damaged or
lost a single piece of freight or a single piece of equipment they carried and
delivered.
